Novinky & AktualityMarek Svato: ˝It's a very nice arena!˝Marek Svato, 23-year-old Slovak born right wing of Colorado Avalanche (NHL) and one of the top rookies of the year, came after the season back to Koice. He spent some time visiting a new pride of his hometown - Steel Aréna. At the NHL mid-season point, two expected names were at the top of the rookie scoring race, Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. However, just underneath them was Marek Svato. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury in early March ended his season. He finished tied for the team lead in goals with 32 and had a total of 50 points. Avalanche fans have been waiting for Svato to arrive in Denver ever since he gave notice in the 2004 NHL playoffs when he played a regular shift with Colorado and finished with six points in 11 games. A sniper, Svato was a huge part of Colorado's power play prior to his injury, contributing 22 points with the man advantage. Q: Marek, how do you like Steel Aréna? I think it is the most beautiful arena in Slovakia. Players have to appreciate conditions they have. I am sure that they will do all for repay to club for that what club give them with good results. Q: Did you noticed in USA that this new arena was opened? Yes, I had some info about grand opening and I knew about the first game. I also checked the pictures on the internet, but it's much better to see everything in real. Q: How about Steel Aréna comparing to other arenas overseas? It's difficult to compare. This one really stands a high level. Not too much behind the arenas in NHL. Q: Do you think to play some hockey sometimes in future in this arena? I hope so. I played for a years in old arena and it should be really ice to play someday in the new one too. Q: In year 2011 we will host the World Championship in Slovakia. At this time you should be one of the leaders of national team. Steel Aréna will be only #2 rink, but at least 1 game of our team should be here ... (laugh) year 2011 is far far away. We see how my career will progress, but I'd like to play here for Slovakia. Q: And how about old times in Koice? It's unforgetable. I'm only one of the young players, but I spent lot of time plaing in the old arena. I remember many coaches in this team and they helped me in my hockey developement. I have really nice remembrance of Koice |
